Goodbye FB & IG

Updated: Jan 21

So I’ve deleted my Facebook and Instagram permanently. It was addicting and useless in my life. I would mindlessly scroll through my newsfeed. I felt insecure and inadequate comparing myself to other people’s success or beauty. The addiction to stay relevant, showcasing the highlights of my life, and FOMO was a problem I realized I had. I could never bring myself to do it so it feels nice to finally do so. I want to be more present in life with myself and my loved ones, especially my Mother.

I still have my Artist Website and YouTube up because that’s where I’ll post my music regularly. So if you’d like to be in the loop with music updates or random thoughts of mine, please subscribe to my Artist Website and YouTube :D

I am aware that YouTube and my blog are considered social media platforms as well. With YouTube and my blog, it's more about self expression for me opposed to Instagram and Facebook, where I feel like it's more about me having to impress others. Social media has its pros and cons. This is my way of finding that balance in my life and what platforms fit my needs best.

It's just way too time consuming and overwhelming to post every single day or even 2-3 times a day. That's what marketing gurus now a days are suggesting to promote. I don't like to post all the time because I have my own life to live. I think it's the same for everyone else. I view it as a friendship. We don't always see or hear from each other, but we know we are always there for each other. When there is something important or exciting I'd like to share with you, I'll let you know. I don't wanna update you every single freaking day and bombard you, like I would need to on Instagram so you notice me, because I know you have your own life to live too.. and I want you to live your life to the fullest!

I’ve contemplated whether removing myself from Facebook and Instagram would hinder my music's exposure. That was one of the main reasons why I kept it. Facebook was where I was getting the most traffic of people, but I’ve realized being on these platforms excessively wasn't good for my mental health. I'll find other ways to get my music out there.

I hope that word of mouth, a personal and genuine recommendation, will be one way to help me. I know this method isn't the quickest, but I think it's the most organic way. Quality is always more important to me than quantity. Those that love me for me and my music are my kind of people. So thank you for all the support :] I am deeply grateful to you all <3

Welp, that was my spill for the day. I'm just very excited that I finally did it! Thanks for listening :] I hope you all are having a great day and enjoying your holiday break!

Love,

Helen
